Scope: Bike Helmet Design for Scott Sports
Urban Cycling
Scott Sports wanted to expand from high-performance cycling into the urban commuter market, developing a fresh design language for city riders. I designed Il Doppio, the first product in this new lineup, establishing the foundation for a broader family of urban helmets. Launched in Spring 2021, Il Doppio combines a clean urban aesthetic with everyday functionality, including an adjustable fit system and integrated rear light with two modes for increased visibility.
Design & Development
The design evolved from early sketches through prototyping and user testing, balancing safety, comfort, and usability. PC In-Mold Construction fused the lightweight polycarbonate shell directly with the EPS liner, enabling a slimmer, lighter helmet while maintaining impact protection. Refined finishes, detailing, and integrated features gave Il Doppio a distinctive yet understated character, tailored to the needs and aesthetics of modern city riders.
